Day 2 on Iceland

I'm up early this first morning in Reykjavik for an amazing spread put out for breakfast.

Then off to church!  8 am Árdegismessa (Mass) at Hallgrímskirkja, a Lutheran parish church. Most parish churches are not on this scale.

We joined about 30 others, including the woman pastor who led worship. In Icelandic. Amazing worship experience as others helped us follow along. Then we joined everyone for coffee, tea, and even conversation.   A most blessed experience.

After church we wandered around, shopping, sightseeing, enjoying cuppas at the local coffee roasters, Reyjkavic Roasters.

On my "must see" list was Harpa, the architecturally bold and impressive new performing arts center, which overlooks the harbor.

Lunch was avocado and cheese on sourdough toast; dinner was a world famous - or at least Icelandic famous - hot dogs.

After dinner we happened upon street musicians. High energy, and as near as we could tell, one song in their repertoire.

Now 21,572 steps later, this day is done. But the sun is not "gone", as the old familiar hymn goes. Not for several more hours.
